We invite you to join us in the historic city of Safi, Morocco, for the International Folklore “Red Sand” Festival. Safi, one of Morocco’s oldest cities, boasts a rich history from its origins as a Carthaginian port to its time under Portuguese rule, with the fortress from that era still standing today. Its deep-rooted culture and status as a historic seaport provide a unique backdrop for a cultural exchange during the festival from 4-8 April 2026.
Festival Welcomes:
Folk dance groups, folklore instrumental groups, music groups, folklore songs, folkloric fairy tales, and ritual performers (age 12+).
General Rules:
Performance of a free program lasting 30 minutes.
Performance at the opening and closing ceremony: 5-minute presentation of country.
Bring a small gift for exchange, national flags, and a visible panel with the group’s name.
Limit: 40 persons per group.
Provide a brief history, photos, video, and material for advertising of groups to the organizers.
Groups arrange their own international flights. Transfer from and to Marrakeck “Menara” Airport is included.
After receiving the application form and completion of the advance payment, the organizer will send an official letter of invitation.
The balance of the payment must be completed 60 days prior to arrival.
Accommodation at a 3-star hotel within walking distance to the art city center in Safi.
Participation Fee:
250 Euro per person – 5 days/4 nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis in a triple room.
300 Euro per person – 5 days/4 nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis in a double room.
350 Euro per person – 5 days/4 nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis in a single room.

Organisation and implementation of the festival.
Concert of all groups at the city centre mainstage (min. 3 performances).

Day 1 – 04.04.2026:
Arrival of all participants to SAFI.
Meet & greet by festival representatives.
Check in to hotel.
Sightseeing of Safi.
Rehearsal / timing (done separately for each group).

Day 2 – 05.04.2026:
Breakfast at the hotel.
Workshops and cooperation with local youth community.
18:00 – Opening ceremony of the festival.
Presentation of each country (5-10 min free choice: folkloric dance, music, song, poem, instrument, etc.) in national costumes.
Grant fiesta – fellowship.
Meeting with Safi officials.
Day 3 – 06.04.2026:
Breakfast at hotel.
13:00 – 15:00 – Interexchange culture workshops, dinner, OR trip by request.
18:00 – 23:00 – Grand performance of all groups on the main stage of the festival.
Day 4 – 07.04.2026:
Breakfast at hotel.
Free time, culture workshops, support local art (purchase souvenirs), lectures, OR trip by request.
18:00 – Closing ceremony of the festival.
Awards of diplomas, fellowship.
“Arabian Disco” with local DJ, featuring a Morocco Tea Ceremony.
Day 5 – 08.04.2026:
Breakfast at hotel.
Trip to Essaouira (by request).
Departure to the airport.
