From June 17 to 21, the historic coastal city of Durres, Albania, came alive with the vibrant rhythms and colorful traditions of folklore ensembles from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Poland during the Durres Folklore Festival. This captivating event brought together talented dancers, musicians, and performers, each sharing their rich cultural heritage in the breathtaking setting of Durres’ ancient amphitheatre. The festival concluded with a special awards ceremony, where all participants received certificates and commemorative gifts in honor of their artistry and passion.
Beyond the stage, performers immersed themselves in the beauty of Durres’ storied past and stunning landscapes. They had the unforgettable opportunity to showcase their traditions in the ancient Roman amphitheatre, a grand relic from the 2nd century, where their music and dances echoed through history. Between performances, they swam in the crystal-clear waters of the Durres Sea, explored the city’s lively markets, and savored the flavors of delicious Albanian cuisine.
Excursions took the groups on cultural journeys through the region, including visits to historic landmarks and scenic spots that highlighted Albania’s natural beauty and deep-rooted traditions. Whether wandering along the bustling seaside promenade or uncovering hidden gems in the city’s charming streets, every moment was filled with joy and discovery.
The Durres Folklore Festival was more than just a performance—it was a celebration of unity, cultural exchange, and unforgettable memories under the warm Albanian sun. As the final melodies faded and the last dances ended, participants left with hearts full of pride and a deeper connection to the spirit of Durres and each other.
