From March 20 to 23, Vienna, Austria, became a harmonious meeting place for young voices and choral artistry from across Europe. Set within the beautiful surroundings of the Mariahilf Catholic Church, the Vienna Choral Festival welcomed talented choirs who shared their passion for music, culture, and friendship in one of Europe’s most historic musical cities.

The festival opened with inspiring performances that filled the church with pure, resonant harmonies. Among the distinguished participants were the Vörösmarty Children’s Choir and the Vörösmarty Girl’s Choir from Budapest, Hungary.

The Vörösmarty Children’s Choir, under the direction of Anita Zsákainé Papp, presented a refined and expressive repertoire including Szellő zúg by Bárdos Lajos, O, Salutaris hostia by Leo Delibes, Laudate Dominum by Julio Dominguez, Edelweiss from The Sound of Music, and Gloria Deo by Mary Lynn Lightfoot.

The Vörösmarty Girl’s Choir, led by Enikő Joóné Balogh, enchanted the audience with beautifully blended harmonies through their program featuring Per crucem (Taizé canon), Dona nobis (canon), The Lord Bless You and Keep You by John Rutter, and Menyecske by Bárdos Lajos.

Adding vibrant Balkan spirit to the festival was the KIC Pop Choir from Podgorica, Montenegro, under the direction of Mladen Čelebić. Their energetic and heartfelt performance featured beloved traditional and popular songs including Još ne sviće rujna zora, Sejdefu majka buđaše, Evo zora, Titograde, and Devojko mala, bringing warmth and rhythmic vitality to the festival stage.

From gentle lyrical passages to powerful climactic moments, the atmosphere inside the church reflected Vienna’s timeless tradition as a city of music. The closing ceremony celebrated not only musical excellence but also the friendships created throughout the festival. Choir members exchanged smiles, memories, and certificates of participation, marking the end of a truly meaningful artistic journey. The experience strengthened cultural connections and left lasting impressions on every participant.

This Vienna Choral Festival was a beautiful celebration of harmony, culture, and unity—an unforgettable experience where voices from Hungary and Montenegro came together in the heart of Vienna as one.
